Red Eye

photo collage and fire

50.5 X 106.5 cm

19.9 X 41.9 inch

2011

This piece, created in three layers, represents the Mount Carmel forest fire of 2010, one of the worst natural disasters in Israeli history, and mourns the beauty of nature, eaten away by it. The upper and middle layers show the magnificent grace of the mountain while the fire spreads from the lowest layer. In this way, at least symbolically, it appears that the work itself is on fire, as a red eye, peeking from below, stands as a warning sign for future disasters.
