The work symbolizes attempts to silence public and personal wrongs. Specifically it can be seen as an analogy to chauvinism and women abuse by attempts to silence wives by their husbands. The work refers to the cases of men who don't wish that their wives will be expressive with regards to their opinions, not stand out and develop a career and prefer that they will stay at home to cook and clean. Eventually this treatment ends up with family violence. The plunger is a tool that those women use for the household duties, and the work demonstrates the men's violence and attempts to silence as the violent man pushes the plunger to his wive's mouth and by doing so silencing her.
